DREAM! BELIEVE! ACHIEVE! From Wall Street Secretary to President of a Public Company is written by a woman who highlights a person's need to pursue their passion in life and not let anything deter them from achieving their goals.
It covers the fact that many folks find they are constrained due to assuming failure will culminate in the long run and depression will set in as a result.
She felt at times unable to continue until speaking to an accomplished author who set her straight by identifying steps that had to be taken in a timely manner, one at a time, and told her "you cannot rush the process"
I got married and my husband surprised me with purchasing a "computer" for his law office. He said it was the latest technology in the market. After the computer was delivered, the first thing I noticed was the size of the manual which was 250 pages in length. Between this latest technology in 1982, and the large manual accompanying the computer, the word "intimidation" was the only word that came to mind.
Up until then, I came from the typewriter era and couldn't fathom that a "computer" could replace a typewriter after so many years. When I asked my husband, "What does the computer do?" He said he was told that "it processes words" to which I replied, "My Mother has a food processor that processes food, but how do you process words which are intangible?" He shrugged his shoulders and said, "That is what I'm told."
After struggling for weeks at home trying to minimize the length of the instructions, I devised a 50-page basic manual which highlighted the bare essentials of how to create a document and store it into a file for later retrieval. The end result was to print the document which included separating words into paragraphs, bolding, underscoring, and storing a document.
I put a Sunday ad in the Village Voice Newspaper in New York City, and four people showed up at our office on Monday morning asking about the training program. That was just the beginning of my becoming a teacher without a teaching degree!!
I finally fulfilled my dream by expanding our facility to 35 computers, hiring instructors and training on 3 additional programs which had been introduced into the market at about the same time as computers.
This turned out to be the BEST time of my life because my staff and I concentrated on making students believe in themselves. With their inner passion, we were able to secure employment for them while becoming a training/placement service.
REMEMBER YOU ARE YOUR GREATEST ASSET AND DON'T LET ANYTHING DETER YOU FROM THAT BELIEF!
